MOLTENI

— Gio Ponti Objects

Within the museum space Poldi Pezzoli, an installation takes shape that is at once a tribute and a reinterpretation, a work of memory and of design. The re-edition by Molteni of a selection of objects by Gio Ponti is hosted within a display system that reflects and amplifies the master’s distinctive features, engaging in a close dialogue with his formal and conceptual legacy.
The project does not merely reference Ponti’s language—it actively reworks it through a contemporary lens, generating an environment that is both rooted in history and boldly original.

The installation is structured around a composition of geometric patterns freely inspired by those designed by Ponti for Villa Planchart: triangles, rhombi, and bold yet vibrant color fields, evoking a rigor that is never rigid, a balance that is always dynamic. These motifs are printed on large panels arranged in facing pairs, generating a strong and controlled perspective effect in which space contracts and expands according to visual rhythms that guide the visitor’s movement.
At the heart of the installation, a birchwood counter displays the re-edition objects: on its surface, the geometric patterns become grids that define the placement of transparent display cases, each shaped in accordance with the same graphic forms. The triangular modules become not only decorative elements, but also a curatorial strategy, transforming the display into a system of spatial and visual relationships.
